Pascal Éloge Tigri is a Beninese military officer (Lieutenant Colonel) who led the failed coup attempt against president Patrice Talon on 7 December 2025.[1] He served as President of the Military Committee for Refoundation,[2][3] a short-lived military junta which only controlled some areas and government institutions in Cotonou for some hours.[4] Afterwards he fled to Lomé in Togo.[5]
Biography
[edit]As a soldier of the Benin Armed Forces, Tigri was an artilleryman. He was formerly the commander of the 3rd Combined Arms Battalion (3rd BIA) before being appointed head of the Special Forces group within the National Guard.[6][7] Tigri's group fought in the jihadist insurgency in Northern Benin.[6] During the coup attempt, Tigri's forces arrested Faizou Gomina, the commander of the National Guard.[6]
